In June 2011, Sarranda Scott returned home from school, after quitting her job, to help her mother care for her ill father, completely unaware of the severity of his illness. He passed a little over a month later, leaving her without a sense of work. However, we all know that God always makes something good come of terrible situations (Genesis 50:20). In her inability to find work, God birthed The Randolph Scott Memorial Learning Academy (RSMLA) as a homeschool in October 2011, named in memory of her father and his commitment to education. A couple of years later, Sarranda became a certified teacher and began offering tutoring services to students of all ages, with her sisters by her side who are also certified educators. In 2018 God led Sarranda to change the name from RSMLA to Randolph Scott Academy (RSA), and in March of 2019 to create a nonprofit component of the business to better offer services to a wider audience.
Sarranda has 10+ years of experience in curriculum planning, intervention initiatives, administration, and student and family relations. Her commitment to creating a safe learning environment that meets all learners’ needs, as well as building meaningful relationships with the families served (know as #RSA_Family), has earned RSA a 95% success rate. #RSA_Family members have proven to operate at their full academic potential after establishing a sense of emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual wellness. At RSA, Sarranda and the Dream Team care for the whole person, not just the visually apparent problem.
Sarranda knows the importance of developing individualized plans that enrich our students and their families, academic experiences through various services. Our clients most appreciate her ability to provide behavioral interventions and strategic educational solutions that bring about life-enriching and lasting life skills. Her training as a Human Service Professional in Trauma & Crisis Counseling further equips her to serve our clients on a deeper level. She certainly considers it an honor helping others “[Unveil Their] Hidden Potential!”
Although operating a business that bears her father’s name is a daily reminder that he is no longer with her, Sarranda cannot imagine doing anything else.
